It's official. Real Madrid have appointed a new coach - Julen Lopetegui, who currently manages the Spain national team.

"Julen Lopetegui will be the Real Madrid coach after the celebration of the 2018 World Cup", the Tweet said.

Lopetegui will officially take over at Los Blancos after the World Cup.

He previously had a spell as manager of Porto, as well as with the Spanish national youth team set-up and at Real's B team.

The man who Lopetegui replaced in the Spain hotseat perhaps provides the best guide in how to do both jobs successfully.

"My future?" De Gea is quoted as saying by the Daily Express. United have grown dependent on him. Gone are the days when a superstar forward was winning them games every week; rather De Gea's world-class saves have seen them pick up three points when otherwise they might have finished the match with none.

"You have to be focused on having a good World Cup - we are all good".

Whilst the tournament in Russia will be the largest international football competition in history, with more teams participating than ever before, a number of high profile figures will be conspicuous by their absence this summer.

Lopetegui was part of the starting eleven along with Julio Llorente, Chendo, Fernando Hierro, Jesus Solana, Esteban Granero, Michel, Adolfo Aldana, Rafael Gordillo, Sebastian Losada and Paco Llorente.

The Belgian midfielder has been a crucial factor in Roma's success this season, including helping the team to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Zinedine Zidane insisted he did not leave his Real Madrid post just so he could take over as France coach.

Brazil coach Tite has angrily hit out at claims of talks with Real Madrid.

When he announced his resignation, Zidane said that had been the worst moment of his coaching career with the club.

Bale has endured two years of injury set-backs and is in fact a target of United. I don't like to compare eras.
