We doubt that Xiaomi will launch the Redmi S2 in India, as its Redmi Note 5 series is already hit. Unfortunately, the Redmi S2 misses out on 4K video recording, which is also the case with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 is powered by the tried and tested Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC that has an octa-core processor and Adreno 506 GPU. The 3 GB RAM variant has 32 GB of storage on board whereas the 4 GB RAM variant comes with 64 GB of storage. The smartphone also provides dedicated slots for a microSD card (up to 256GB) for further expansion with two Sim cards capacity.

The Redmi S2 sports a 5.99 inch (1440 × 720 pixels) HD+ 2.5D curved glass display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. A third teaser claims the smartphone will have both an AI portrait mode as well as AI-based beautification features. On the rear, there is a dual-rear camera setup that combines a 12-megapixel sensor with a 5-megapixel one. And, it comes with lots and lots of artificial intelligence. The rear camera has an aperture of f/2.2 with PDAF autofocus and LED flash.

Today, the company launched yet another budget smartphone, the Xiaomi Redmi S2.

Battery: The Redmi S2 is backed by a 3,080mAh battery, and charges over standard micro-USB. The Redmi S2 price starts at CNY 999 for the 3GB RAM variant. And, to an extent, even on the design and build. Here we put the Moto G5 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 side to side helping you decide better. Other reports had confirmed that the phone will be coming with a 16-megapixel front camera featuring Samsung's S5K3P8SP sensor.

The device also comes with a Face Unlock feature, a Xiao AI voice assistant, and iPhone-like antenna lines. The phone comes in Rose gold, Champagne Gold and Platinum Silver colors.

The phone measures at 160.73x77.26x8.1mm and weighs 170g, which does not come as a surprise considering its aluminum body. The device will probably include a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, and it will be made out of metal, at least if its predecessor is anything to go by. Additionally, the listing of a global version of the handset has been spotted on Aliexpress that hints its availability outside China, including India and other worldwide markets.

Redmi smartphones are all about best features at a very affordable cost.
