A 3-year-old girl in suburban Dallas is missing after her father said he punished her for not drinking her milk by telling her to stand outside by herself at night near an alley behind her home, police said on Monday. When Mathews went to check on Sherin at 3:15 a.m., he told police, his daughter was gone.

Mathews was sent into the area outside her home's backyard Saturday at around 3 a.m., the Houston Chronicle reports. According to BuzzFeed News, Wesley has been arrested with abandoning or endangering charges. He was arraigned for endangerment on Sunday, with a bond set at $250,000. She was last seen wearing black pajama bottoms, pink flip-flops, and a pink top. Officials also report that the child has developmental issues and very limited verbal communication skills.

After her disappearance, police towed the family's vehicles to search for evidence and went door-to-door through the family's neighborhood using search dogs in attempts to locate the girl. There's still no sign of Sherin Mathews.

Authorities in Texas are still searching for a missing 3-year-old girl who disappeared from a spot near her family's home on Saturday.

She is approximately 36 inches tall and weighs about 22 pounds.

"If our child was missing, if we didn't find her, I would be panicked within a minute", Underwood, a mother of four, said.

Police say Wesley and his wife waited until 8 a.m.to report her missing. Richardson Police Sgt. Kevin Perlich said, according to Fox Carolina. "As far as why she was out there, how long she was out there, that's the questions we have for the parents".

The Amber alert for the case was discontinued because of lack of leads. About a year and a half ago, the couple announced they adopted a little girl from India.
