The FIFA transfer ban has been a severe blow for Atletico Madrid who cannot bolster their ranks with new players until 2018.

He predominantly plays as a left-sided player, cutting in on his right foot, but is versatile and can occupy a variety of roles.

Known as Vitolo, the midfielder has rescinded his contract with Sevilla where he spent the last four years.

The former Las Palmas man, who will now rejoin his former club fir six months, has been heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid in the past, but the club's transfer ban made it much more difficult to thrash out a deal. The Madrid side are not allowed to register new players until January 2018 owing to a FIFA transfer ban for signing minors.

The suggestion from Spain seems to be that Vitolo paid the €37.5 million required to buy-out his contract and Atletico will pay him back.

Atlético Madrid have announced a deal with Vitolo, with the winger signing a five-year contract after his 35.7m-euro Sevilla release clause was met on Wednesday.

"Vitolo is a player with extensive experience and quality, who has played for Spain 11 times and become one of the most dangerous players in La Liga in recent seasons", said an Atletico statement.

After helping them win three Europa League titles in a row between 2014 and 2016, Vitolo has now decided to move on.
